Care IS RESISTANCE
Care is resistance is a Health Brigade Community Project Inviting our Neighbors to care with us through Story, Action & Advocacy.
we Care about each other
We believe in the power of story sharing as a way to collectively care for one another, reminding us that we are not alone.
The Care is Resistance Storytelling Project brings together local photographers to explore what care looks like at Health Brigade and in our community. We care about your story too! Share your story and listen with us as we honor the lived experiences of each other.
we Care FOR each other
Care is Resistance lives in our everyday actions through Community-led Care Teams that provide hands-on ways to support one another through shared resources, mutual aid and collective care.
Create a Care team with your family, neighbors, business, community group or you can even declare yourself a Care Queen (Don’t be a drag, be a Queen!) and participate in joyful, values-driven quarterly projects that support Health Brigade's mission and community.
we Care With each other
Advocacy is how we turn care into impact. Through town halls, marches, legislative presence, social impact art and even old school spaghetti dinners, we create space for us to stand up together for healthcare equity and justice.
In partnership with Mending Walls, we’re creating a Care Wall, a public space where we can declare our solidarity and care with each other.Sign up to receive advocacy alerts and learn how having an old school spaghetti dinner can pull our care and community advocacy together. CARE WiTH US
Every $1 equals $8 worth of health care services for the 12,000+ people Health Brigade serves each year.
OUR SToRY
Care Is Resistance is a community-centered call to action from Health Brigade (formerly Fan Free Clinic), rooted in our 55+ year legacy of showing up for our neighbors most impacted by barriers to care. At a time when we are being told not to care about basic humanity, like families staying together, affirming who people are, or that everyone has health care, we believe that choosing to care, with dignity, compassion, and respect is a powerful and necessary form of resistance.
We refuse to stop caring and will stand together to protect and strengthen the public health safety net and well-being of our whole community.
This community project invites our neighbors to care about, for, and with one another through story, action, and advocacy. Through shared storytelling, we remember we are not alone. Through hands-on active care, we support one another in tangible ways. And through collective advocacy, we raise our voices to create change.
Care Is Resistance lives both online and in the world, meeting people where they are and inviting everyone to be part of a community rooted in care.
